Prior to installation of the play equipment this site had to be cleared of all unwanted shrubs and trees. Then Tarmac footpaths made up of 40mm dense binder and 20mm close graded surface course were constructed through the site between pre cast concrete edging. A heavy mulch was placed around the remaining shrub beds around the top of an embankment on the site.
The site was now ready to erect a one metre high bowtop fence in a powder coated black around all the play equipment areas. For safety each area had a soft close self closing gate and combined lock installed. Rather than the bow top fencing the two play areas, (Crows nest and Sand Pit) had 150mm dia log walling installed around them. As with all play areas the safety of the children is paramount and CLS ensured that the required depth of safety wet pour rubber was laid below each item of play equipment 107m2 in total.
Areas that did not require a wet pour safety mat had grass matts installed (682.5m2). The final items to be positioned onto the play area were three large natural boulders to be used as climbing challenges.
