This scheme involved rugby pitch improvement works to Skipton RFC. The scope of works undertaken in this project were:
The pitch for improvement was a 115 m x 70 m and it was sited at the western end of the site forming part of the Skipton RFC facilities. The surface of the pitch was generally undulating as a result of localised settlement of the underlying fill material.
Improvement to the evenness of the pitch surface were achieved by cultivating, then levelling the existing topsoil. This was also supplemented with some additional imported topsoil. Once fully levelled the drainage system incorporating a pipe and slit design was installed.
Once the construction phase was complete a maintenance regime was programmed. This consisted of mowing, fertiliser & selective herbicide application, soil aeration and sand topdressing as required.
