CLS Sports have secured the contract to design and construct 1nr U13-U14 Football Association Pitch to Sport England's 'Natural Turf for Sport Design Guidance' 'Comparative of Sports Pitches & Courts'.
As a specialist sports pitch contractor we are able to undertake the detailed design and construction of the pitch for Shepherd Construction.
82.30m x 45.72m Association Football Pitch (U13-U14), with 3m run off to all sides. Overall size 88.30m x 51.72m.
Playing surface should be no steeper than 1:80-100 along the line of play and 1:40-50 across the line of play.
An agronomist will undertake a detail survey of the soil conditions to ascertain the natural drainage of the soil and subsoil on site and the suitability of the existing topsoil on site for the purpose of grass sports pitches to Sport England technical requirements. We will then level the site to +/- 25mm prior to any other work.

To be a "Type One" MUGA as defined by Sport England. This is the preferred surface for tennis and netball.
Fenced MUGA to be to Sport England recommended standards in order to achieve the above including run offs: approx 67m x 48.77m. Refer to drawing L-1060-SKP-004 'MUGA' comparison' for more details. Unfenced games area to be to Sport England recommended standards in order to achieve the above including run offs: approx 32.1m x 19.1m.
To be set out to provide a single plane fall no greater than 1 in 100. Falls also to be installed to tie-in with drainage design by others.
Fenced MUGA to be open textured, porous macadam to Sport England guidelines. Construction build ups to be specified by a specialist contractor. Edgings to be pre-cast concrete kerbs - sizes to be advised by others. Maximum gap between outer kerb face and perimeter fencing to be 10mm. Two courses of porous, open textured bitumous macadam to be installed as playing surface. Unfenced basketball court to be open textured macadam to engineer's specification.

Colours to be as follows:
To be 50mm width and applied with a minimum two coats of paint to manufacturers recommendations. All lines to be within 10mm of true position. Lines to be parallel and uniform.
Existing external storage units are proposed to be retained and relocated to area adjacent to sports centre by unfenced court.
To be 3.0m height galvanised, black polyester powder coated weldmesh fencing to BS 1722-14, Cat.1. Welded mesh to be Dirickx CODI 'M' or similar 200mm vertical x 38mm horizontal mesh with 5mm vertical wire diameter and 7mm horizontal wire diameter. Mesh size to be no bigger than 38mm to allow tennis to be played on the MUGA. To include 2nr double leaf gates (3.0m width) within the fence line - locations as per boundary treatment drawings L-1060-GAP-003-004. Suitable locks and ground fixings for the gates in both the open and closed positions to also be provided. All gates to be full height clad with mesh to match fencing. All gates to open outwards and be lockable.
Fenced MUGA courts to be fitted with covered, non slip recessed sockets for tennis net posts (2nr per court). Netball goals to be free standing with weighted base & wheels for easy movement. Tennis nets and netball goals to be supplied to suit - to be housed in storage area detailed above. All new equipment to comply with relevant sporting body guidance Unfenced games courts to receive permanently fixed basketball hoops (2nr per court).
To be detailed by specialist contractor. Drainage should be to Sport England standards.
