Hockey Field Construction

After a competitive tendering process CLS Sports were appointed by Carmel College in Darlington to construct their new, full-sized, FIH accredited, synthetic hockey pitch.

Carmel College Hockey Field Construction
The pitch design incorporated a lateral drainage system and attenuation tank due to the planning restrictions along with acoustic fencing and a bespoke floodlighting scheme. The pitch construction involved the installation of the drainage system and earthworks to create the formation layer before a stone sub-base, macadam layer and insitu shockpad were installed.  A sand dressed 18mm synthetic turf then completed the pitch construction. As well as the pitch, CLS improved the surrounding landscaping, paths and car park lighting. Utilising the topsoil arisings, CLS also constructed a 5-a-side football training area along side the new pitch.
