Kirkleatham Crematorium

Civil Engineering, Land Drainage and Attenuation, Hard and Soft Landscaping

Alongside the development of the new crematorium building at Kirkleatham, CLS were appointed to carry out the external works which included both hard and soft landscaping, drainage and planting.

CLS constructed the main access road and car parking along with two reinforced grass car parks. Self-binding gravel pathways and paved footpaths were also installed around the crematorium to create a pedestrian friendly environment.

As the site was originally agricultural land a new drainage system was installed. This is an environmentally friendly SUDs scheme which drains into an attenuation pond.

Along with the civil engineering aspects of the project, a large amount of planting was carried out. This included hedge rows, shrub beds, ornamental and native trees and aquatic plants.

The majority of the site was then seeded, and certain ornamental areas were turfed. The works were completed with the installation of signage, seating and lighting.
