Sports Drainage Installation and Landscaping
As part of the Moor Park Restoration Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, CLS were appointed by Preston City Council to make significant improvements to the two cricket pitches.
The existing cricket pitches were poorly drained and in much need of a sustainable drainage system. CLS Sports installed both primary and secondary drainage systems to the cricket outfield to ensure the area could be a reliable ground and host matches.
The primary drainage system was made up of lateral drains at 5m centres and the secondary drainage system was made up of sand slits at 1m centres at 90o to the lateral drains. Along with the drainage systems, the pitches were also scarified, and top dressed with a medium/fine sand before they were vertidrained and over seeded.
As a low-maintenance, sustainable solution, Preston City Council also opted for two synthetic match wickets to complete the newly improved pitches. These were installed to ECB standards and will provide a reliable, uniform cricket wicket surface.
As well as the cricket facility improvements CLS also constructed both ‘bod pave’ and ‘truck pave’ roadways to enable vehicles to access a new events area. Hydrant points and an electric supply were also installed.
