There are many misconceptions that synthetic surfaces require little or no maintenance, however to ensure the longevity and performance of your synthetic pitch a bespoke maintenance regime should be established from day one. CLS Sports offer a range of artificial turf maintenance services tailored to your facility. These are dependent on pitch usage, the nature of the sport played and the type of synthetic turf.
CLS Sports specially trained and DBS checked operatives work from our 4 depots offering a nationwide service. We use innovative, industry leading machinery and equipment to deliver the following services:
Brushing
Using specialist low ground pressure machinery fitted with brushes we ensure the carpet pile is in a raised position and the infill is evenly distributed to help prolong the life of your synthetic surface and ensure compaction of the surface is avoided. This maintenance operation should be carried out very regularly. The frequency is dependent on the pitch usage.
Infill Top-ups and Redistribution
To ensure the correct characteristics for play it is essential the correct infill levels are maintained. Infill will inevitably reduce over time as it can migrate off the pitch via player’s boots, maintenance equipment and in windy weather conditions.
Uneven distribution of infill can also be a major problem as the pitch will become uneven and affect the way the ball rolls. It can also increase the free pile height, again, leading to filament layover and damage to the fibres. Our specialist redistribution machinery can ensure a level and even surface.
Repairs
As soon as damage occurs, it should be repaired as soon as possible to avoid the risk of slips and trips and further damage. CLS offers a full repair service for all types of synthetic turf.
Decompaction
Compaction can be a major issue over time if your synthetic pitch is not correctly maintained. If the infill becomes compacted it can reduce the efficiency of the pitch drainage system. It will also significantly affect the performance characteristics of the surface as the free pile height can become increased, making it more vulnerable to filament layover.
Deep Cleaning
CLS can also offer a more comprehensive maintenance service by carrying out a deep-clean. This process decompacts the infill, extracts any contamination, cleans the surface and redistributes the infill. We recommend this process is carried out every year as a minimum.
Line Marking
Over time painted line markings can fade and become unclear. Using laser guided line marking machinery and polyurethane paint, for longevity, we can comprehensively reline your pitch to the precise requirements. Using different colours for different sized pitch layouts, we can help you make the most of your pitch.

Routine Maintenance
Our expert operatives can provide regular, routine maintenance packages to suit your surface, usage and budget. These packages will typically include:

Professional Maintenance
We also provide routine professional maintenance which is typically carried out on a quarterly basis. These types of operations are usually recommended within your Operations and Maintenance Manual or may be required more frequently if your pitch has high usage. This service can include:
