Athletics Track Refurbishment

CLS Sports were appointed to refurbish the existing, porous, 8 lane athletic track and install a new non-porous synthetic surfacing to the track at The University of Central Lancashire.

We firstly removed the existing surface and carried out testing to the macadam base. This testing identified several areas which were out of tolerance and needed repairing. Once this was completed the new track surface was then installed. This was made up of a 10-11mm in-situ rubber base matt, a sealer coat and a PU surface coat made up of blue pigmented polyurethane binder with blue EPDM rubber granulate cast over the top. The completed track surface and events areas were then line marked to the current UKA specification using a two-part polyurethane paint.

As well as the surface we also carried out improvements to the current drainage system, and floodlighting system. The drainage improvements involved the installation of new drainage channels to the inner track straights and between the long/triple jump. The existing floodlight system was upgraded by replacing the existing lamps with new LED lanterns to all track perimeter floodlight columns.

To complete the project, we also supplied a range of new sports equipment including; portable steeplechase barriers, long jump pit covers, take-off boards, pole vaults, high jump, pole vault bedcovers, and hurdles.
